Black History Month: Kathakali Performance

Thursday, 1st October, 2009 at 11:28 am, Isle of Wight

Dance, Events, Ryde

October is Black History Month and there are a number of events and initiatives taking place on the Isle of Wight.

On Friday 16 October why not head to the Carnival Learning Centre in Ryde to catch a performance of classical dance drama from South India – Kathakali.

The performance will provide an introduction to this little known art
form and includes solo performance in full costume of an ancient story from the Mahabharata.

We understand that it’s suitable for adults and older children and with tickets at just £5/£3 well worth giving it a go and taking in a bit of culture.
