VentnorBlog iPod Competition Winner Announced

Wednesday, 30th September, 2009 at 2:50 pm, Isle of Wight

Community, Competitions

Congratulations to VB reader Emma Powell, who correctly guessed that yesterday was the four year anniversary of VentnorBlog.

VentnorBlog iPod Competition Winner AnnouncedYes folks, it was four years ago yesterday that we posted our very first article on VentnorBlog, reporting the news of a bomb detonation in the haven. Our coverage also made it onto the BBC Website the same day.

The intention at the time was for the site to be ‘a blog about Ventnor’, but it wasn’t long before it’s tagline was changed to “it’s not just about Ventnor”.

Now covering news and events from across the Island, our readership has grown to make us one of the most widely read online news sources on the Island.

Competition Winner
To celebrate our birthday we ran a competition asking readers if they could guess why the day was so special to us.

Emma guessed correctly, so she has wins herself a brand new iPod Shuffle, courtesy of us here at VentnorBlog.

As an added bonus, John Cattle from Wight Trash has given the OK to load the iPod with all the tracks from Wight Trash Transitions Vol I and Vol II. The compilations are perhaps the most comprehensive ever produced on the Island of Island music, featuring the likes of Jackson Analogue, Hugo Frusslinky, Mark King, Lektroluxe, Born in a Barn, Jet Harris and even Lucky Elephant.

You can pick your copy up for just a tenner from The Ventnorian in Ventnor, Switch45 and Wight Mountain in Newport, Earth Wind & Water in Shanklin, Revolver Skateshop in Ryde and HMV in Newport.

All proceeds from the sales go directly to the Save Ventnor Skatepark Fund.
