Green Issues, Newport, Vestas Sit-In, podcast

Vestas Sit-in: Day 8 Phone Call To The Inside (podcast)Here’s the catch up that we had with Mike on the inside at the Vestas sit-in this morning.

The summary is below, with more detail in the recording below

  • The protesters were concerned that the money announced by the government might not be all new money (NB: we have just received confirmation from an official at the DECC that the £6m announced yesterday is all new money).

  • Vestival Starts: Details of the cinema they’d setup on Sunday
  • Those in the sit-in are trying to find themselves things to keep their minds active
  • Tomorrows court case: They won’t be leaving the building as they wouldn’t be able to get back in
  • If they are able to stay for another six weeks, they will.
  • They’ll “put on a show” for the people coming down from the Big Green Gathering.

  2. Best of luck to the occupying workers!

What a mad world where we need to reduce carbon, but sack the very workers that can do this.
