HomeGrown Exhibition 09: Lauren Fry (podcast)

Wednesday, 15th July, 2009 at 2:08 pm, Isle of Wight

Art, Design, Photography, Ryde, podcast

Last Saturday we made our way up to Ryde, sadly not in time for the parade, but in time to catch the launch of the HomeGrown Exhibition.

HomeGrown Exhibition 09: Lauren Fry (podcast)The brainchild behind this exhibition of contemporary Isle of Wight Art is the incredibly ambitious and inspiring, Lauren Fry.

Recently returned to the Island after completing a university degree, followed by a stint of travelling, Lauren was keen to get engrossed in the contemporary arts scene.

She put a call out on VB earlier in the year for Island artists and the (superb) results can been seen all this week at a fabulous location in Ryde.

More to come later on VB about the individual artists exhibiting, but in the meantime, check out our interview with Lauren.

Apologies in advance for the wind disturbance on the recording, we forgot to take the muffler with us.

We’d highly recommend visiting the exhibition before it closes. Includes works featured by Carole Gledhill, Lisa Traxler, Chris Jones, Jo Hummel Newell, Adrienne Wroath, Chris Ballingal and Birgitte Haar Lund.

Location: The Basement of The Depozitry, Nelson Street, Ryde

The exhibition is open daily between 11am-2pm and then 4pm-7pm finishing on Saturday 18th July.
