I see Upper Ventnor was totally underwhelmed by the visit of the Countess. The helicopter certainly caused a stir though.I am not sure about the royalty these day,s,your photo,s of Sophie do seem to show her to be in touch with the young people is it me or does she look like Diana.Anyway i am sure the staff and pupil,s of the school have looked forward to her visit for a long time and what price can you put on excitement and memories.Fair play to her for visiting our wonderful town.Shame she did not pop in for a cup of tea the kettle was on!!!!

It’s good that royalty and other celebrities show support for young people and/or charities. It’s a little excitement for people and for the majority hopefully serves as an incentive.

I met the Countess of Wessex a few years ago on receiving my Queen’s Guide Award (GirlguidingUK of which she is the President) and spoke to each Queen’s Guide in turn, asking about our award and taking an interest in what we had done towards it.

I hope the children and staff all had a good day and well done to them all!
