IW DidgHead Radio Festival: It’s Not Just About The Didgeridoos

If you’ve read about the Isle of Wight DidgHead Radio Festival, you might be mistaken for thinking that it was a niche festival only for the likes of those who have a hankering after didgeridoos.

IW DidgHead Radio Festival: Something for EveryoneWell, you’d be wrong.

Having spoken to festival organiser Gerry Priddle, we can reveal that there will, in fact, be loads for everyone to do over the weekend, including lots for the family.

Of course, the festival will feature the best contemporary didgeridoo and acoustic music from around the world, but as well as that, you can enjoy aboriginal dancer/singer Jermaine Herbohn from the Tjapukai Cultural Park Australia and Czech Republic techno didge band KusKusKlan.

If it’s the music you’re going for, rest assured there’ll be more than just didges being blown over the weekend. Gerry tells us that the festival features a diverse range of virtuoso playing from such instruments as the Swiss Hang, Japanese Fujara, Thai Khene, North African Birembou, Russian balalaika, North American and Ukranian flutes, jaw harps and throat/overtone singers.

A sight to behold will be Island samba and djembe bands performing alongside the Kagamusha Taiko Festival troupe and Ryde Extreme.

To kick start the festival, which has a secure contract with Calbourne Mill for the next three years, camping is free with adult weekend festival tickets at a modest £45.

Visit the Festival Website for more information and ticket purchase.

We are primarily buying 2 tickets for this IW didgeridoo festival because we had such an amazing and fantastic time last weekend at the singing sticks didgeridoo festival.
Eventhough it was our first such event, we are now hooked on didgeridoo and dance.
If this festival and the people going to it are half as friendly and nice then it will be fantastic

We are now looking forward to getting some lessons and learning to play the didgeridoo that we brought last weekend aswell

See you all in a few weeks
