The Stranglers Return With White Man Kamikaze

Monday, 6th July, 2009 at 4:33 pm, Isle of Wight

Music, Ryde

They played Bestival in 2006 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 2008 and on Thursday this week The Stranglers are back on the Wight.

The almost-all original lineup will be making their way to Ryde Theatre on Thursday night with support from White Man Kamikaze.

WMK supported the Sex Pistols last year so it only makes sense that they accompany legends, The Stranglers, on their return trip to the Isle of Wight.

They don’t like to be pigeon-holed, but have been likened to The Sonics, The Stooges, MC5, Castaways, The New York Dolls, The Doors, The Sex Pistols and The Clash, White Man Kamikaze. Their music, they say is far more than the sum of their influences.

We’ll be waiting with baited breath on Thursday night to see if they meet the high expectations set by previous reviews, but judging by their tracks on MySpace, we reckon this gig is one that’s right up our street.

Tickets are still available for Thursday night so get in there fast by calling Ryde Theatre Box Office on 568099.
