IW Festival 09: Advance Tickets Sold Out: More On The Door
Monday, 8th June, 2009 at 11:17 am, Isle of Wight
Isle of Wight Festival, Music, Newport
Isle of Wight Festival HQ tell us this morning that all tickets for the Festival which kicks off later this week have now sold out.
John Giddings announced a couple of weeks ago that he was going to hold back around 1,000 tickets to sell on the gates at standard price in a bid to deter tickets touts hoping to cash in.
With the likes of The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Pendulum and The Ting Tings appearing on Friday. Stereophonics, Razorlight and Maximo Park on Saturday and Neil Young, Pixies, Simple Minds, Goldielookinchain
and The Charlatans playing on Sunday – we’re sure those 1,000 tickets will go very quickly.
We’ve got tons of Festival news coming out over the next few days, so keep em’ peeled.

I don’t know if the IOW organiser has a hidden agenda but it’s not rocket science to know that touts require people going to an event without tickets to be able to sell them their’s, usually at an inflated price. Conversely when they can purchase them cheaper, because they are on sale and if anyone has spares they’ll b less valuable, they can then sell at a reduced price, albeit at a profit, to these customers without tickets.
