Island Day at Bestival

Thursday, 16th April, 2009 at 9:55 am, Isle of Wight

Bestival, Central Wight, Music

Island Day at BestivalEvery year at Bestival although there’s always a great selection of Island music, we’ve always wondered why the Bestival team don’t make more of the fact that the Isle of Wight is a hotbed for musical talent.

Well this year, it seems, our thoughts are turning into a reality.

We hear that this September, the entire Saturday lineup on the Bandstand will be a magnificent celebration of the Isle of Wight’s own incredible musical talent, dubbed Island Day.

Explaining the idea behind Island Day, Rob da Bank said:

“Each year I get inundated with CDs of amazing bands and DJs from the Island and I can never fit enough on so this year we’re giving the whole of the Saturday day and night on the Bandstand over to Isle Of Wight talent. From Blank Beats to The Shutes, we’ve got the cream of the local bands and watch out for an announcement on a DJ day too.”

This is fabulous news for Island bands confirmed to play, as anyone watching on will be fully aware of where the band originate.

This is also a great coup for Island tourism – we’ve been banging on about the Island music scene being a great asset for Island tourism for ages, so hopefully Island Day will be publicised, promoted and celebrated by all.

Well done Rob!
