UKSA Needs Your Help
Monday, 30th March, 2009 at 6:31 pm, Isle of Wight
A team of staff volunteers from Cowes-based Charity, UKSA, are looking for donated equipment and materials from local businesses to help transform two of its lecture rooms and create a new “chill out” and games area for the young people it works with.
Every year thousands of young people from all over the UK attend residential courses at UKSA.
When they are not taking part in arranged activities there are dedicated areas for them to socialise and play games, however over the years through regular use these have become tired and dated.
The company is now undertaking its own DIY makeover to turn the new rooms into bright and appealing areas for the young people to relax and play games in, and to make their time at UKSA even more memorable.
Gemma Cooper, the project coordinator at UKSA, commented: ““We have got a great team who have donated their time to decorate during the first weekend in April. We are really excited about the project and would be extremely grateful to receive any support from local companies, through the donation of materials and equipment. We are looking for items such as paint and painting equipment, fabrics, carpet, tables, soft furnishings, activity games, funky lighting and audio visual equipment. Any donation will go a long way to helping the young people, who are aged 8-16 enjoy their time at UKSA even more.”
UKSA is a registered charity that is committed to changing the lives of young people through its maritime training and experiences. The company assists people from all backgrounds, including those who have never seen the sea before, providing education and personal development through residential maritime activity.
If you have anything suitable to donate, or would like more info about the project please get in touch with Gemma Cooper on 01983 203013 or email gemma.cooper@uksa.org.
