Sewage Leak in Solent Reported in Southern Daily Echo
Friday, 20th March, 2009 at 12:21 pm, Isle of Wight
Thanks to VentnorBlog reader, Al, who forwarded news of a sewage and diesel leak in the Solent this morning.
It’s not too close to the Island, but apparently a barge sunk just off Woolston in Southampton early this morning.
It’s reported that the barge had four tons of red diesel on board and several hundred tons of effluent.
Not surprisingly, a salvage operation is underway and the spillage is causing quite a stench for local residents.
