Wroxall: -11.1 Degrees C Last Night

Wednesday, 7th January, 2009 at 2:06 pm, Isle of Wight

Island-wide, Media, Wroxall

Darn it's coldYou’ve probably noticed this already – unless you’re still under the duvet – today is Rather Chilly.

David Carrington from Wroxall Weather got in touch with us to let us know quite how chilly it was overnight. His weather gear was telling him the ‘real feel’ temperate was -11.1 degrees C! Blimey.

The coming days – a bit warmer
Chatting with David today, he predicts that temperatures will reach a maximum of 1 degree C today, with tonight dropping to about -1, so out with the hot water bottle … or electric blanket.

For the rest of the week, he sees temperatures increasing slightly during the day time, although remaining cold. The nights will drop below freezing due to a combination of clear skies and a Northerly Arctic wind.

Ventnor cosseted
Those readers in Ventnor will be pleased to know that Ventnor doesn’t suffer too badly, as the Northerly winds blow over the downs, missing the town – contributing to the famed micro-climate.

It sounds like keeping an eye on the weather is a more than full time business – David was up monitoring the weather up until 4am this morning. Great dedication.

Poor old Mrs Minty was so cold last night, I had to wrap the electric blanket around her and tie her in. She was “well done” by breakfast!
