Boxing Day Swims On The Isle of Wight

Tuesday, 23rd December, 2008 at 6:31 pm, Isle of Wight

Charity, Ryde, Shanklin, Sports, Ventnor

Boxing Day Swims On The Isle of WightThe Ventnor Boxing Day Swim takes place again this year, with the brave souls dashing into the water at around midday on Boxing Day.

Last year attracted a huge crowd (as can be seen from the shots below) from all across the Wight and was a bumper fundraising event for the charities involved.

One of our readers has written asking if we know of any other Boxing Day swims apart from the Ryde one which kicks off at 10.30am and the Shanklin one which starts at 11.30am.

If you know of any others, do please add a comment below to let others know.

Happy New Year to you all from the Isle of Bute, Western Scotland.

We had a Boxing Day swim at our local sailing club which raised £5500 (and still counting) for CLIC Sargeant Cancer Charities. Sea temperature (6 degrees C) very cool and a bitter east wind, so rather cooler than sunny Ventnor………

We wish you all a very peaceful 2009.
