Sleepwell Luxury Heated Mattress Cover Review (9/10)
Thursday, 18th December, 2008 at 6:14 pm, Isle of Wight
This time of year can be a real challenge when you’re trying to pick presents for people who appear to have everything.
We’ve come up with an idea for a present that will guarantee that the people who you give it to will feel a warm glow about you every night.
The Sleepwell luxury heated mattress cover is a dream at this time of year.
Toasty in 15 minutes
It warms the bed from cold to a toasty loveliness in a mere 15 minutes, slightly over the 10 minutes recommended by the manufacturers.
If you happen to get distracted and leave it on for longer than that, you won’t find the bed getting too hot as other electric blankets do. It’s also got a switch giving you 75 minutes of warmth before cutting off.
Those with chilly toes will find the extra heating on the lower section a boon.
Each side of the bed has an independent temperature control with nine levels, so if one person is more cold blooded than the other, they can ramp their side up to a higher setting.
We know that some people feel the cold more than others and appreciate some heating assistance during the night, so for them the Sleepwell luxury heated mattress cover has a 12 hour setting and can be left on all night without concerns.
Progress
Electric blankets have really moved with the times. This is nothing like the electric blankets you may remember from yesteryear. There’s none of the stiff lumpiness of previous models that sometimes felt uncomfortable – and it warms up darn fast.
Fitting it is also a doddle. It’s like a fitted sheet, so no battling with unwieldy straps to get it fixed to the bed.
For that extra bit of luxury, there’s a cloth wallet that a card doused in essential lavender oil can be inserted into – giving an aromatic treat while the bed heats up.
Cost of using it
Many people are keeping their eyes on the pennies these days and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the Sleepwell luxury heated mattress cover only uses 310 watts of power when both sides of the blanket are on full power.
If you run it for our recommended 15 minutes, it should use 7.5 Kw/hours over the period of a month. Equating to only about 95p – £1.50 per month depending on your electricity price.
A small price to pay for a good start to a nights sleep.
Summary
If the cost isn’t an issue this would make a superb gift – even if you’re the lucky recipient.
Once people get one of these, they’d find it pretty hard to give it up!
Highly recommended.

I used to have an electric blanket years ago and haven’t bothered replacing it since it broke. Might just have to add that to my Christmas list (after all I’m sure my husband hasn’t got around to buying anything yet!).

Your review provided me with the final piece of assurance I was looking for. After sifting through various options I had earmarked this model to take back to Cyprus with me for those very cold nights in the winter. Given I would not be able to pop back to the store I needed to be sure it was the right choice. ….thanks
