YMCA: Christmas Card Appeal
Friday, 31st October, 2008 at 9:00 am, Isle of Wight
From now till the end of January 2009 YMCA Winchester House are collecting unwanted new and used Christmas cards from the local community.
Once cards have been collected, early in February, we are planning to have a re-use, re-make creative and educational environmental awareness weekend for young people.
This involves recruiting 16-25 year old volunteers to come together at Winchester House to create new Christmas cards and other activities … we hope to get a few local high schools on board.
The re-made Christmas cards will then be donated to local charities that wish to raise their own funds. And so, this project also aims to build links with young people and the Islands local charities.
We would like to hear from local businesses who would also like to get on board by helping us to collect cards from their premises.
Cards can now be donated to Winchester House, Sandown Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight, P037 6HU or The Rural Community Council Volunteer Centre office, 3 Langley Court, Pyle Street, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1LA.
