Festival of Lights Celebrations At The Tiffin Room

Friday, 31st October, 2008 at 1:30 pm, Isle of Wight

Bonchurch, Food & Drink

Deepavali @ The Tiffin RoomFinal reminder that if you’re looking for somewhere to eat out tonight or tomorrow night, why not try The Tiffin Room at the Bonchurch Manor Hotel?

As part of the Deepavali festival of light celebrations, The Tiffin Room, which normally operates by appointment only, is opening it’s restaurant on Friday and Saturday night, with fireworks taking place on Saturday night also.

Having sampled the food from The Tiffin Room many times before, we can highly recommend this restaurant, as does Clive Aslet of The Times, who stated in his review of the hotel,

“If the Michelin Guide cared more about proper food, rather than the degree of starch on the napkins, it would give Bonchurch a star”.

Cost per person on Friday night is £23 and £26 on the Saturday night. To reserve your table call Tel: + 44 (0)1983 852868.

Having sampled Shuba’s cooking for the first time, I can only endorse Clive Aslet’s review*. I can see why she bridles at the term ‘curry’, as what she produces is on a different plane altogether – subtle, delicate and yet stuffed with flavour. Well, lots of flavours, really – I will have to educate my palate a bit more to identify all of them, but the end result was delicious by any measure.

*Only the food bit, though. Anyone who is too spoiled or lazy to get out of bed to turn off the light, or who complains because there isn’t a bottle of Perrier on his bedside table deserves a good kicking, IMHO!

Thank you for your encouragement and camaraderie esp. the Aslet room bit :(- I truly appreciate this.I am going to make some changes to The Tiffin Room, next year and will absolutely make sure that you and your wife/partner are invited for our re-launch :)
