Coming up at Quay Arts in a couple of weeks, pupils from Ryde School present The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
It’s a play by Bertold Brecht set in a time of civil war.
A servant girl sacrifices everything to protect an abandoned child.
When peace returns, the boy’s biological mother demands his return.
The judge calls on an ancient tradition – the chalk circle – to resolve the dispute.
Who is the rightful mother of the child?
