Reader's Praise For The Ventnor Winter GardensI have been looking through the list of events coming-up at the Winter Gardens and I must admit I am impressed.

With such names as: the Animals, Focus, Groundhogs, Wishbone Ash, Aydenne Simone, the Gathering and Derrin Nauendorfe.

I’m lucky enough to be at the age where I have seen some of these acts and have records of most of them.

The last one I have seen is Derrin; he is one heck-of-a-guitarist and with his new band, he should be one not-to-be-missed.

If you only go to see one band or wondering whether to go or not, then my advice would be GO TO DERRINS gig.

It goes to show, with the right people involved, you can get good talent here; why can’t Ryde do this?

    that’s not a very catchy name if he wants to establish popular appeal.

    P.S. i liked the animals when they were in their prime but their current gigs strike me as somewhat misleading when only one member of the original group is on stage.

    ditto herman’s hermits – similarly misleading in that the original star isn’t with them.

    a lot of these 60s groups which i liked are up to the same trick of touring with few of the original personnel.

    HI . I have only been useing a computer for a short time & came across the winter gardens (ventnor) site today . RE: the animals & hermans show on the 17th oct 2008 . What a fantastic evening from start to finnish . forget the line ups as both bands done themselfs proud & it was great to sing along to all the songs I grew up heraing . On the 18th oct I had the cheek to ask for a flyer as a keep sake of the evening & was over the moon when a member of staff gave me 2 posters . I dont know your name but if you was the gent working that morning Then Many thanks . Roll on the 18th july . Keep the 60s & rock ‘n’ roll music coming . best wishes . Keith
