Southampton Boat Show: Hybrid Marine Launch New Product

Hybrid Marine Launch New ProductHybrid Marine, a company based at the IW Enterprise Hub in Newport are, we hear from the Economic Partnership, launching a new product at the Southampton Boat Show.

We’re no expert about these things, so the prospect of a new diesel-electric hybrid marine propulsion system for leisure craft is not something that excites us immensely, but seeing new innovation coming out from the Island is something we’re always happy to celebrate.

Apparently, the propulsion system is suitable for new builds as well as retrofits and is cost-competitive compared to many diesel plus generator configurations.

Being a parallel hybrid system, it also provides maximum flexibility to run craft on diesel or electric or combined power sources.

This is something that will mean more to the sea dwellers amongst you and if you want to chat with Hybrid Marine more about this new product, you can find them Stand H15 at the Southampton Boat Show which runs until Sunday.

Hybrid Marine has been partly funded by Finance South East’s Commercialisation Loan Fund and has been supported by Enterprise Hub Network Mentors, Tony Smith and Ken Dueck.

Development and testing for the new product has been provided by Beta Marine who are based in Gloucester.

Well done to Hybrid Marine, we wish you luck with your new product and hope sales boom!
