We were listening to PM on Radio 4 earlier this evening and heard that Shanklin was officially the sunniest place in the UK on Saturday, pushing Lerwick in the Shetland Islands into second place.
A good uplift for the month of August which has been described as the worst August, weather-wise, for the last half century.

Hi
Can anyone tell me which areas of the Island are
considered the most desirable to live in? Any comments would be welcomed. thanks

Bembridge, St Helen’s, Cowes, Brighstone and West Wight seem to have the most expensive property.

Can I add Yarmouth and Seaview as well. Brighstone is a lovely place and not as expensive as the others Dave has mentioned but this might be because of the proposed wind turbines. Most of the places mentioned have numerous second homes, personally I think if you can get the right spot in Ventnor, St Lawrence or Bonchurch you can’t go far wrong.

come visit and decide for yourself. the entire island is desirable to live in.

Brighstone’s a great village (as has been mentioned). It’s not just picturesque (regularly wins Best Kept Village award – probably a good job I live outside the boundary!), it has a strong community and good amenities for all ages: excellent school, The Village Shop is great, newsagent, dining pub, restaurant, handsome church, doctor’s surgery, post office (yep, still there), scout hut, rec with tennis courts, museum… It’s a very active village.
Are you planning moving to the IoW yourself?
