Bestival: The Archers Are Coming!
Monday, 1st September, 2008 at 7:00 pm, Isle of Wight
Well done to Bestival HQ and the PR gurus there … not only are they getting Websites and Newspapers around the world writing about them – we’ve done 160+ articles on Bestival already – but now they’ve only gone and got themselves on The Archers.
The long-running radio play on Radio 4 had, we’re told, a mention of Bestival over the weekend, where characters Alice and Chris mentioned that they planned to come to the Isle of Wight and attend Bestival.
A little dig around the BBC Website lead us to further details.
The 7pm episode of the Archers this Friday sounds like it’s mainlining Bestival. The summary of the programme is “Chris and Alice have a blast at Bestival.”
Look out those attending Bestival, you could become part of the story line if you’re not careful!
Those keen enough to find out about it will be able to Listen Again using the BBC’s iPlayer.
It truly is amazing that Bestival has worked its way into people’s consciousness sufficiently that it’s appearing on The Archers.
We’d imagine that there’ll be a few BBC people at Bestival getting very well looked after this weekend.

The Archers clearly didn’t have the long-range rain and mud-cast for Bestival 2008! Just heard on the omnibus: Alice’s tent is stolen on her arrival at Bestival and friend Chris offers her his with a chivalrous: “I’m going to sleep outside. Good job next door left their chair out.”
Alice: “But you’ll be cold…”
Chris: “I’ll be okay. Just give me my coat back … I’ll be fine.”
In the night:
Alice: “Chris – you’re still awake aren’t you? It can’t be very nice out there … I feel bad with you out in the cold…”
He heh!
