Enchanted Manor: Interview with Ric Hilton (podcast)

Tuesday, 20th May, 2008 at 9:18 am, Isle of Wight

B & B, St Catherine's, podcast

Enchanted ManorFollowing the news last week that Niton’s Enchanted Manor has just been nominated by the AA for UK Best Funky B&B, we popped down to meet Ric Hilton and have a look around the place.

Owners Ric and his wife Maggie, have done an amazing job at the manor, transforming it into an extremely magical and enchanting place to visit.

After picking up the property at auction at the end of 2006, Ric and Maggie set to work with the renovations stripping out the interior and increasing room sizes to include en-suites and lounge areas, working 18 hours a day, seven days a week for eight months in order to be ready to open in 2007.

Ric describes the B&B as ‘five star without the formality’ and it certainly feels that way. The attention to detail is second to none, with lots of wonderful touches that make all the difference.

Many of you may remember seeing the renovation works on featured on BBC programme – Under the Hammer.

As well as being nominated for the AA Awards, we were chuffed for Maggie and Ric to see the Enchanted Manor featured in this weekend’s Guardian B&B Directory under the category of unusual places.

We’ll let you know how Ric and Maggie get on at the Awards ceremony in June and we’re sure you’ll join us in wishing them the very best of luck.

I watched the programme ‘homes under the hammer’ where Rick and Maggie purchased the Hotel. I was absolutely amazed by the transformation, even though not totally completed back then.
The artist Josephine is brilliant, I just love her mystic/fairytale paintings.
I am just hoping one day that I will have the chance to bring my daughter and stay at your beautiful Enchanted Manor, good luck for the future. x
