Sorry folks, this wasn’t a very well researched piece ! There are 8 wards for the new Newport Town Council each electing 2 town councillors – 7 of which wards are contested today. In Pan, Tony and I were elected unopposed. In Ryde its the same set-up, but with only four wards having contests today. There are no elections in Northwood or Whippingham as there were less candidates than places. Hope that helps.

It was researched on the Council website, but guess I didn’t ‘page down’ for the further info on their PDFs to read about all wards included and just read the front page of each of them. Whoops (blushing).

Thanks for clearing up about Whippingham and Northwood though.
