Next Wednesday sees a full council meeting at County Hall. We will be covering this meeting with live reports coming straight from the council chamber.

The biggest issue on the agenda is undoubtedly the schools reforms.

Melanie Swan will be proposing the following motion under Procedure Rule 11

“THAT Council, on March 19th, resolves to add the following 4th Option to the three currently available to Members within the Education Reorganisation decision-making process tonight: A Referendum of the Isle of Wight electorate to be called immediately, to decide between; Continuing to raise standards within the current 3-tier system, retaining small schools and avoiding a major reorganisation; or A reorganisation to a 2-tier system, which emphasises the importance of small schools and community-based learning.”

Following that item on the agenda, but staying on the subjedt of schools, the council will be asked to consider the results of the consultation prior to making a recommendation to Cabinet.

They will need to choose one of the three options laid out in the consultation questionnaire.
