Transglobal Underground (TGU) are definitely name that a certain generation will relate to.
For those who have no idea what we’re going on about but might be vaguely interested, think ethno-techno and you’d probably be pretty close.
Two members of which were previously known as Furniture. For those of you shrugging your shoulders in wonderment, let us enlighten you a little further.
Hailing from the far reaches of Ealing in East London they managed to get a deal with Stiff Records which then switched to Arista and got caught up in the liquidation of the record co and ending up losing out.
Regardless, they continued and ended up playing at many a Whirl-Y-Gig night – ah – just mentioning those words makes me feel ridiculously nostalgic.
Anyway, they’re playing at Bestival, so be sure to check them out.
