Official Dangerous Times On Island Roads Announced
Thursday, 21st February, 2008 at 2:03 pm, Isle of Wight
We’re all too aware of how dangerous the Island roads can be, with very serious accidents appearing to pepper the news on a regular basis.
The Department for Transport is telling us that the most dangerous hour to be on the roads on the Isle of Wight is between 4pm and 5pm on Monday.
The DfT have done this by collating all the information that they have available, coming to a total of 11 road accidents recorded over the year for that dreaded hour.
Now don’t get all complacent, thinking that you’ll be able to just miss the roads between 4-5 on Monday, as the most dangerous day is Tuesday, with 75 crashes happening over the year on that day.
If this is all a bit too much for you and you’re slowly shifting into the corner of your room to shake quietly at the thought of this, fear not.
The DfT say that statistically the safest time to use the roads is Saturday. That is until everyone takes to the roads on Saturday, because they heard is was safer, and the road become clogged with traffic!
Long of the short of it – the safer you drive the less likely you are to have an accident.
