More Key Decisions for IW Council Cabinet

Tuesday, 12th February, 2008 at 4:41 pm, Isle of Wight

From the Council

What is being done to bring about a greener future and what is going on now to help vulnerable people will be discussed at the next IW Council Cabinet meeting on February 19.

As part of the council’s aim to bring local democracy out into the Island community, the meeting will be held in Shorwell Parish Hall starting at 6pm.

Among agenda items to be discussed will be the adoption of a Sustainable Community Strategy — a key element in its vision to become Eco Island.

The cabinet will also be presented with the Audit Commission’s favourable report on the council’s Supporting People programme.

IW Council leader David Pugh said: “I would urge people to come along and see local democracy in action.

“The agenda is a varied one that reflects the broad range of services provided by the council. It also shows how we are working in very different ways to improve the lives of local people.”
