Nominations Needed For Island Disability Awards

DO you know of an individual or organisation on the Isle of Wight that has excelled in driving forward the disability and equality agenda?
Then it is time to nominate them for the Island’s Disability Awards 2007.
The International Day of the Disabled takes place on December 3 this year.
And the Isle of Wight Council is supporting the event by staging an awards ceremony at Ventnor Botanic Gardens to celebrate individual and business achievements in promoting equality and diversity.
The glittering event is being hosted by the Island’s High Sheriff David Langford.
Awards are being given in a number of categories including awards for great personal achievement, individuals who have strived to achieve independence in spite of their disability and a young person’s award for under 18s who support someone with a disability.
Employers and the voluntary sector are also being recognised for their efforts in a number of categories including businesses that promote equality and diversity and organsiations that have been proactive in raising the eqaulity agenda through provision of services, marketing or campaigns that raise awareness.
