Asa Singleton Goes To Bestival (Podcast)
Monday, 15th October, 2007 at 4:22 pm, Isle of Wight
This audio recording is a slice of the conversation that we had with Asa at his house a week or so back.
It starts with a bit of background as to the series of happy coincidences that fell into place, that worked to get Asa to Bestival.
Listen on the eight minute podcast below and find out how Asa managed to jump the queue to get into Bestival before The Levellers; got to meet The Beastie Boys backstage; had a bunch of Wight Trash T-shirts enthusiastically grabbed off him by one of the Beasties and had a close encounter with Suggs from Madness.
Simon Higgin, maker of the film ‘This is Asa’ was by his side and able to hand over a copy of the film for the Beastie Boys to watch. It’s hoped that this will help in gaining clearance to use one of their tracks (BB) on the not-for-profit film, which aims to raise awareness for Neurofibromatosis Type 2, the disease which Asa has lived with for the last 16 years.
On top of all that excitement, Rob Da Bank, Bestival Head Honcho, in what must’ve been a incredibly busy time, went up and introduced himself to Asa when he spotted him backstage – taking the time to sit down and get to know him.
