If you had plans to enter the Bestival Island Bands and DJs competition, let’s hope you got your act together and made sure that your quality recordings are now sitting on Rob Da Bank’s desk.

Last Friday was the closing date for the competition which gives Island bands a chance to play at the best festival going … Bestival.

So now that’s out the way, make sure that you stick Thursday 19th July into your diary. From 7pm on that date you can go along to a free event at Ryde Theatre (if they haven’t closed it by then) to watch, what our Rob considers to be the best five bands and DJs, battle it out in front of an esteemed panel of judges. If you can’t stick around until the end of the night to hear who the lucky winners are, don’t worry, it’ll be up on the blog before the next day.

As we’ve said before, last years winners Bastila, have gone to be signed by Rob Da Bank’s record label, Sunday Best. Who knows what the future will hold for this years winners?

Should be a great night with some brilliant music and showcasing of the wonderful talent we have on the Isle of Wight. What better place to do it than at The Venue at Ryde Theatre.
