International Climate Change Conference At Ventnor Winter Gardens

Wednesday, 23rd May, 2007 at 12:52 pm, Isle of Wight

Environment, Green Issues, Ventnor

Well done to Robin McInnes and his team for putting on such a professional conference at the Winter Gardens.

International Climate Change Conference At Ventnor Winter Gardens

This is the third time it’s been run there (from memory) and this years theme – the International Conference on landslide and climate change: Challenges and solutions – is something that will be of interest to Islanders and the wider world.

200 experts from around the world have come to Ventnor to learn and share their global experiences.

International Climate Change Conference At Ventnor Winter GardensWe popped down there yesterday and were hugely impressed with the way the Winter Gardens looked. It was bright and airy – we’ve never seen it look so good. It really showed what that great, but recently under-used building, could be for the town.

Conferences not only further stamp Ventnor’s name on the map (many national publications have done this already); it fills rooms in local hotels, tables in local restaurants; but importantly exposes people to the unique and stunning attributes of Ventnor – creating life-long fans.

International Climate Change Conference At Ventnor Winter GardensWe went around recording chats with the delegates at the drinks reception last night and found people from around the globe enthusing about the town we all love. (When we get the time, we’ll work the recordings into a piece so you can listen too – it’s just that editing audio can take quite a lot of time)

The best example of a visitor getting the Ventnor bug was a man who first came in 1958 and has returned every year or two following that.

Are you sure that there were 200 experts there? Looking at the picture, which takes in most of the room, there are about 38 people in the shot.
Having walked past the WG twice yesterday, it certainly did not seem like 200 in there.
Is it yet another attempt by the “you are all going to die unless you do as we say” brigade to Big Up their agenda by inflating the number of attendees?
Incidentally, do you know who footed the bill for this jolly?

These people are dangerous. I have just been watching Meridian Tonight and one of these experts stated that people will have to choose; do they want to drive or eat?

I’ve just read Paul Hatchwells letter in the CP.
These people are really beyond the pale. If anyone disagrees with their “predictions”, they are insulted.
Flat Earthers? Get a life you silly man.
